In order to measure areas on the map you would first click on the measure area tool. Clicking on the map will add points to your polygon. Double-click on the map to finish your polygon.

When you have completed your measurement, the map application will process your line or polygon and will return the measurements on the results tab.

The Search Property by Address is searching for a situs address map layer that is a combination of county and city addresses. There could be times when a new city address is not found. This may occur often because city addresses are not updated weekly, rather city addresses are updated more in a quarterly or semi-annual basis depending on the community and the number of staff the community have to maintain growth in new addresses.
If you are absolutely unable to locate an address, one solution is to submit only the house number in the top search box (on the search tab). This will return a recordset of addresses with this house number. From here you can search through the alphabetically sorted addresses.
If you are unable to use the on-line mapping applications and/or are unable to get the map extent in the area you need, please let us know. Certain layers are pre-set to appear at different map scales. Some layers are not available in certain areas. Changes can be made to the application (under certain circumstances). If you need the information right away, you may do two things:
Call us and see if we can help you over the phone. Staff members are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Arizona Standard Time (no daylight saving time) at 928-771-3169.
Come into our office and purchase a paper map. 8.5 x 11 = $ 5.00 each (Reprint $2.00) with Aerial Add $2.00 (Reprint add $1.00). 11 x 17 = $10.00 each (Reprint $5.00) with Aerial Add $5.00 (Reprint add $2.00). 36 x 48 = $20.00 each (Reprint $10.00) with Aerial Add $10.00 (Reprint add $5.00). In order to bookmark a map you have created click on the ‘Other’ tab and select ‘Bookmark Map’. After copying the text in the textbox, you can paste in an email, word document etc. and retrieve the map by either clicking on it (if the target application supports this) or pasting in the browser address bar. If the map is moved with the bookmark dialog expanded it becomes necessary to refresh the link in the bookmark.

In order to export a map you have created to an image or PDF click on the ‘Other’ tab and select an export option. If you need a legend, you must select landscape orientation. Once you have entered an optional title and selected whether or not you wish to include a scalebar and north arrow, click on the ‘Export Map’ button. If you are using Internet Explorer, you may be prompted to add an exception for this web site in order to download images.
Much the same as exporting to an image or printing, select/input the optional map parameters and click ‘Export PDF’. If you have the Adobe Acrobat plugin for your browser, your PDF will open in a new tab or window. If not, you will be prompted to download the file.
* Keep in mind that Google and MyTopo services are not available when exporting or printing.
A very useful feature available in certain areas is Google Streetview. This feature can be activated by clicking on the Street View Icon in the results tab after you have selected a valid parcel. Since the Streetview coverage is incomplete in Yavapai County, there is no guarantee that an image will be available. To be sure that coverage is available, one can activate the Street View Coverage layer in the Map Layers Tab.

In order to view the Street View plugin it is also necessary to have your popup blockers turned off and Flash installed.

While no special settings are required to use the application in its basic form, additional settings include: pop-up blockers turned off and Flash installed(for Google StreetView), and Adobe Acrobat Reader installed (for Export to PDF function). Internet Explorer may prompt you to add an exception for our website if downloading an image or PDF.
A great effort has been made to make the application cross-browser compatible but you may, on occasion, find an option or tool that does not function properly. If this is the case, you can try using a different browser or let us know by contacting the Yavapai County GIS Staff.
It is also of note that the application performs much faster in the Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. This is not by design but rather circumstance.

By clicking on the ‘help’ tab in the Interactive Mapping Application, you can access help documents.

In order to print or export a map from the web application, DO NOT PRINT FROM THE MAP PAGE ITSELF, instead, click on the ‘other’ tab and select an export method. If you want a legend, you must choose the ‘landscape’ orientation. If you have pop-up blocking software installed, please disable it or add an exception for our website. Often times people have a pop-up blocker turned on and are not aware or it. Please review the following settings in Internet Explorer:

Pop-up blocker settings:

Ensure that either your pop-up blocker is turned off, the check marks are checked or that you have added an exception for gis.co.yavapai.az.us.

If this does not solve your problem you most likely have a 3rd party (Google, MSN, Yahoo!) toolbar that is blocking pop-ups. Please contact us if you are still having trouble printing.

For further information, please contact the Yavapai County Assessor’s Office.
In order to view coordinates in the new web mapping application, activate the coordinate dialog by clicking on the ‘X/Y’ button. You will now notice a box at the upper right corner of the map.

GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. In more general terms, GIS is Computer technology combining digitally referenced maps and databases for the purpose of mapping and analysis. If you would like more information and details about GIS, please click here to learn more.
Yavapai County Government uses GIS technology throughout several departments including the Assessors office, Elections, Planning and Building, Roads and Flood Control among others, comprising nearly 200 users. With the ability to access the GIS, County employees can complete tasks which before, could potentially take hours or days. As an example, the digital parcel base map for the county is maintained by the Assessor’s Office using tools developed by our GIS staff. Parcel splits and combinations which previously were hand drawn on paper maps, can now be completed more efficiently utilizing GIS. Additionally, the public may now access the County’s GIS information using our custom developed Online Mapping Applications, allowing users to freely access and research county records without having to travel to a county building.
