About Elections

In Yavapai County, the elections and voter registration duties are carried out under the direction of the County Recorder.

Duties of the Elections Department:

  • Conduct Primary, General and Presidential Preference elections
  • Contract election services with various jurisdictions in the county such as:
    • cities & towns
    • fire districts & sanitary districts
    • domestic water & waste water improvement districts
  • Reserve up to 100 polling places
    • hire 700+ poll workers to staff
    • prepare & deliver 800+ voting booths
    • test & deliver 100+ Accu-Votes (optic scan vote tabulation equipment)
    • test & deliver 100+ Accessible Voting Units (touch-screens)
    • prepare & deliver maps and supplies
  • Elections is also responsible for:
    • Preparation, ordering & testing of all ballots
    • Candidate and political campaign filings
    • Tabulation of early and vote by mail ballots
    • Canvass of election results

Unofficial election results are now usually available by 8:00 p.m. election night on the Yavapai County website.
