Residential Grid-tied Solar Policy Update

Effective December 4, 2017, a Building Safety Permit is no longer required for residential grid-tied Photovoltaic Systems or Solar Water Heating Systems, including systems with Generators, when installed by an Arizona Licensed Contractor.

Note: A completed Flood Control District Administrative Review Form is required for ALL grid-tied solar photovoltaic or water heating systems. This form may be mailed or dropped off at either Development Services office in Prescott or Cottonwood. There is no fee to submit this form.

Any permit applications still in process following December 4 will continue to be processed and issued accordingly. Any applicant who wishes to withdraw their in-process application may do so. Yavapai County Now Accepts Onsite Wastewater Notices of Transfer Online!

The Environmental Unit is now accepting Onsite Wastewater (AKA Septic) System Transfer of Ownership forms online. The $50.00 payment can be made online by credit card or a check can be mailed separately. Transfers for all systems can be submitted directly to Yavapai County through this App regardless of when the system was installed. This new tool became available July 11 and will streamline the notification process for new property owners, title companies, and real estate professionals.  | Click Here |

Permit Applications Accepted up to 4:30 pm

Development Services Customer Service and Permitting staff accepts permit applications up to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday in both the Prescott and Cottonwood offices. Permit applications submitted after 4:30 pm will be processed the next business day. Department Staff members will continue to be available to assist customers with all other needs up to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Changes to Swimming Pool Permitting

As of May 20, 2017, Public and semi-public swimming pool and spa projects will be able to be submitted directly to ADEQ as Yavapai County Development Services-Environmental Unit will no longer be authorized to make licensing decisions for public and semi-public pools and spas in accordance with Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) rules. ADEQ is able to conduct these reviews without an application or review fee which will save money for property owners interested in building or updating these recreation facilities. Unchanged will be the continued local review and inspection of commercial pools and spas by the various Building Safety agencies for conformance with the adopted Building Code. For many years the Environmental Unit has had a contract with ADEQ to review public and semi-public pools and spas to make sure certain statewide design concerns were being addressed. These decisions will be made by ADEQ as of May 20, 2017.

The Development Services Department was established to centralize all development related services into a single department. All of the services provided are designed to protect the public health, safety, and welfare, through addressing, building permit review, inspection, development, planning, enforcement of the Planning and Zoning Ordinance, and environmental regulations for wastewater disposal. Staff also maintains the County’s General Plan, and provides services to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Unincorporated Communities of Yavapai County Government.
