Mission Statement

The Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office serves the citizens of Yavapai County to effectively and efficiently investigate non-natural and unattended mortalities to determine the cause and manner of death. The Medical Examiner also investigates mortalities that are significant to the health and welfare of the county citizens including emerging infectious diseases, certain patterns of natural death, and situations that may be of epidemiologic importance.

Functions

The investigations are conducted by the county medical examiner who is a duly trained forensic pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology. The medical examiner also reviews all death certificates of those individuals whose bodies are to be cremated.

Authority

The office of the medical examiner is a county office operating under the authority of Arizona Revised Statutes.

Reports

MAIL ORDER SERVICE ONLY

Reports documenting all death investigations are a matter of public record. Copies of those reports are available upon request at a nominal fee established by the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors

Hours of Operation

The office of the medical examiner conducts business Monday through Friday and is closed on official holidays. The office responds to all reported deaths through a contracted removal service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
